Fall Tours

Beautiful Fall weather provides the best paddling conditions of the season, and our area’s natural wonders are in FULL-SWING. Book your tour and don’t miss out!

The sun is setting a little earlier, but the bluebird days September brings mean outstanding sunsets. These tours are a great way to wind down a work week, weekend, or just a hectic day! Griswold Point Preserve has reopened after being closed all summer to protect the endangered Piping Plover as they nested….this means we now have the privilege of experiencing what creatures big and small know to be beautiful. We provide SUP’s (or kayaks), all the gear, and basic paddle instruction. You provide your beverage of choice to toast the sunset and celebrate the end of the day on the magnificent Long Island Sound.

Tours are approximately 2 hours and begin at 5:30 p.m.  $45 per person with board/kayak rental – $25 if you have your own!

Please note: Due to earlier sunsets, sunset paddle tours may have time changes. Please call for times.

Swallow Tours

If you have not experienced the Swallow mumuration and are in the area, you MUST! The Tree Swallow makes its annual migration this time of year and chooses a small island near the mouth of the Connecticut River to collect before their long journey south. As you paddle behind Goose Island, a few Swallows will start flying overhead, it just appears to be normal as birds are everywhere in Old Lyme. Suddenly, you are engulfed by ~300,000 Swallows! They fly, dive, and swarm all around you as you sit back and take it all in. The Tree Swallows will give you a performance as they do a dance, in and out of the reeds, before one dives in and they all follow. This is a truly phenomenal experience that Mother Nature provides and words cannot fully depict what it is like to experience it in the still waters, on a kayak or paddle board. We are thrilled to be able to show you just how amazing it is.

Swallow tours are $55 per person. Call today to book your tours!

If you are more interested in learning about the history and ecology of Old Lyme, including the Great Island Nature preserve, the eco-tours are for you! We have 2 and 4 hour trips, which are guided by our on board ecologist, Sharon. She will be sure to point out many different phenomenons including old rock engravings dating back to the 1600′s and the diverse wildlife we have in the area! We are happy to have Sharon on our team as she is an experienced, certified kayak guide and can answer any questions you might have about the history, or present day, of the area. Call ahead to make a reservation!
