April 3rd - Sandworms and Swimbaits

Spring is just around the corner and the fishing is getting better each and every week! Anglers in the salt are catching stripers in the rivers and even beaches in western CT! Sandworms and swimbaits seem to be the hot bait right now. Blackfish season just opened up, and it looks to be a good spring season with water temperatures on the rise! On the freshwater side of things, the trout fishing is better than ever, with the DEEP stocking many lakes, pond and rivers around the state. The hot spots have been the Farmington and Cedar Lake. Anglers fishing the lakes have been doing very well casting and trolling spoons and spinners from shore and boat. And in the rivers, flies and worms have been the hot ticket for those 20+fish days. And finally for the bass fisherman, the bite is heating up on the bigger lakes and ponds, fish are still deep but can be caught on jerkbaits, jigs and chatterbaits. Reminder-Black Hall Outfitters is open now and will have our grand opening on May 1st with seminars from charter captains and giveaways!
