April 10th - Spring is finally here!

With all this warm weather I think it’s safe to say spring is finally here! The fishing has been getting better and better as well. In the salt, anglers are finding cod out off block using slow pitch jigs. In the tidal rivers anglers are catching stripers on everything from sandworms to flies and swimbaits. On the Inland side of the state, anglers are scoring big numbers on trout on both the Salmon and Farmington Rivers. The best baits/lures are definitely the original rapalas, powerbait, and worms. Fly fisherman are doing well on streamers, nymphs and dry flies. Those who are looking to travel off the beaten path have been rewarded with larger fish and even salmon! The bass fishing is getting better as well, we are seeing more bass caught and of a larger size as well. The larger lakes are doing well with jerkbaits and lipless crankbaits. Blackfish season is open but we haven’t heard anything from anyone on the catch. Been super slow according to people we heard from. Reminder-Black Hall Outfitters is open now and will have our grand opening on May 1st with seminars from charter captains and giveaways!
