February 5th - Rocking a Broken Hand

This past weeks cold front pushed a lot of fisherman to the ice. The ice fishing was hot last week on lakes like Mt. Tom and West Hill Pond. Anglers are catching everything from trout, to pike, bass and even stripers through the ice. Safe ice remains on just about every lake and pond in the state. Evan Kamoen was fishing on 8” of ice in Clinton, CT. Just goes to show that you can find safe ice just about anywhere in the state right now. Evan reported a good bite on live shiners and Swedish pimples jigged. For the few anglers still fishing the Housatonic, they are doing well at night on Gravity Tackle 9” eels on 1/2oz jigheads. Anglers are doing better on bigger baits for bigger fish. Reminder that the Westbrook shop remains closed until further notice, however we can ship, take online orders and do local pick up.

Pictured here is Ryan Kelly, with a nice bass caught on a Swedish pimple size 2, and a bonus broken hand doesn’t stop him from fishing!
