January 25th - Striper Heaven

This week the temps will plummet, forcing anglers to ice fish or find some open water around tidal rivers. Anglers who find open water are catching good sized stripers, with more quality than quantity. Evan Kamoen reported on his recent trip having caught over 50 stripers with the largest topping the scales at a hair over 15 lbs. Evan was in his old town Big Water 132 PDL, and found it enables him to reach more fish than shore anglers. He likes using 1/4 oz jig heads with a 4 in white swimbait. Other anglers are doing well as well, with bigger fish being caught at night on Blurple soft plastics. Anglers chasing cod, are still doing well south of block, with some even limiting out every trip. Clams and jigs remain as the best bait. For anglers looking to hit the ice, the northern part of the state has safe ice, and people are doing well on Winchester for pike and bass. Reminder that the BHO Westbrook shop is remaining closed until further notice. If you want to purchase something you can buy off our website and choose in store pick up.
