The warm weather continues, and it’s bringing some spring fishing! The DEEP continues to stock all of their rivers, lakes and ponds with trout. Some hotspots have been the Yantic River, Mill River, and Salmon river. Trout are being caught on everything from flies to spinners and worms. The best lures seem to be Rapala Original Floater and Countdown minnows. Big trout have been caught on both of these lures this past week. The lakes and ponds are slowly heating up, and anglers have been catching bass on hairjigs. On the river, kayak anglers are scoring big in perch and pike in the coves and backwaters. The best lures seem to be small swimbaits and spinnerbaits. Moving to holdovers, fish are being caught more frequently on the Housy with big fish coming at night. Top lures are swimbaits and fluke style baits on jigheads. Reminder- The Westbrook shop is OPEN. Stop by for all your bait and tackle needs! |
