May 15th - Fluke Flare Up

This next week looks real hot, and so does the fishing. Fluke is heating up with anglers doing well in deeper water with buck tails and gulp. Seabass opens up on the 19th, so gear up with slow-pitch jigs, buck tails and squid! Stripers have been coming in slow and steadily, with the quality fish being caught 3-waying on the reefs. Schoolie to slot sized fish are being caught just about everywhere on everything from topwater to sandworms and soft plastics. Trout fishing is slowing down, but the state continues to stock its waters. Hot spots have been the Salmon and Farmington Rivers, using flies, powerbait and worms. Bass fishing over all is heating up with smallmouth beginning to spawn in the big lakes, and the largemouth aren’t far behind. Both the Old Lyme and the Westbrook shops are open, and we have full inventory of bait and tackle!
