Warmer weather brings more fish! The stripers are moving their way up the coast, with more and more fish arriving each day. Size wise we are seeing schoolies in the rivers and on the reefs. Top baits have been sandworms and swimbaits on jigheads. Fluke has opened up, but we haven’t seen any reports of them in the sound. They will be here soon though. Seabass season is coming up, and we have everything you need; jigs, squid and rigs. On the freshwater side of the state, trout fishing remains consistent, with the best bite being on the Farmington and Mill Rivers. Best baits are powerbait, nymphs and Rapalas. The CT river is heating up for catfish, pike, bass and panfish. Fish are being caught shallow, in the tributaries and rivers. Bass fishing over all is heating up with smallmouth beginning to spawn in the big lakes, and the largemouth aren’t far behind. Both the Old Lyme and the Westbrook shops are open, and we have full inventory of bait and tackle! |
